On September 21st, sixth graders created pinwheels to be "planted" in front of OCIS in celebration of International Peace Day. Students designed their pinwheels with messages of world peace, anti-bullying, a cleaner planet, food/water security, and kindness for all. The "Pinwheels for Peace" initiative was created in 2005 by two art teachers in Florida to provide students with a way to express their ideas about creating a more peaceful world through a pinwheel "art installation." This project has participants from around the world with over 4 million pinwheels spinning "whirled" peace worldwide!
